Privacy Policy

Meen Msefer (مين مسافر) connects travelers with available luggage space to people who need items transported between destinations. Membership is by invitation. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices available to you.

Information We Collect

We collect the following information when you use the Platform:

• Account information — your name, as you enter it when you sign in with Google or Apple, and your email address as provided by your sign-in provider (this may be a private relay address if you use Apple’s “Hide My Email”).
• Contact information — your WhatsApp/mobile phone number. It lets travelers and senders reach each other about transportation arrangements, and lets our team contact you personally if we need to verify your account or a change of number.
• Invitation information — to join, you need an invitation code from a member. We record who invited you, when, and the phone number the member entered for you. When you invite someone, we store the phone number of the contact you choose, together with the invitation. The app reads only the contact you pick in your phone’s contact picker; it does not access your address book.
• Travel information — if you register a trip: departure and destination locations, travel dates, and whether you are traveling with hand luggage, checked luggage, or both.
• Trip alerts — the routes you ask to be notified about, and whether each alert is switched on.
• Reports — if you report a member: which member, the reason you choose, and the trip you were looking at.
• Notification token — an identifier of your device, so that we can send you notifications.
• Platform usage information — information necessary for the operation and security of the Platform, such as your verification status and account activity.

Invitations and Verification

When you join with an invitation, the member who invited you (your “sponsor”) receives a request to confirm you. To do so, they can see your name and WhatsApp number, which lets them check that it is really you. Once confirmed, a “verified” badge appears next to your name for other members. The badge means that the member who invited you confirmed you; it is not an identity check by Meen Msefer.

Our team (employees and the owner of Meen Msefer) can see your name and phone number in two situations: if your sponsor has not confirmed you after several days, and if you request to change your phone number. The team uses this information only to operate and protect the Platform, and may contact you personally on WhatsApp to confirm. Each decision the team takes is recorded.

Messages and Notifications

Meen Msefer does not send you text messages (SMS) or WhatsApp messages automatically, and sends no promotional messages. Invitation messages are written by the app but sent by the inviting member, from their own WhatsApp. When you tap the WhatsApp button next to a traveler, WhatsApp opens with a pre-written message; WhatsApp’s own terms and privacy policy then apply.

We send push notifications about the Platform: a trip registered on a route you follow, a member waiting for your confirmation, and similar service messages. You can switch them off at any time in your phone’s settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Create and manage your account, and check invitations and verification.
• Match travelers with senders on compatible routes.
• Facilitate communication between matched users.
• Notify you when a new trip is registered on a route you are following, and send other service-related notifications.
• Review reports and protect members from fake trips, abuse and prohibited items.
• Improve the functionality, reliability, and security of the Platform.
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.

What We Share, and With Whom

When a member looks for a trip, the name and WhatsApp number of the traveler may be shown to them, and a traveler’s trips are visible to members searching that route, so that they can arrange transportation, delivery and related communication. Your sponsor and our team see the information described above.

If you report a member, that member is not told who reported them. The trips of a member you report are hidden from you.

We do not sell your personal information. We do not share your personal information with advertisers. We do not rent or commercialize user information to third parties. We do not use advertising or tracking services.

We may disclose information:

• When required by law.
• In response to valid legal requests from courts, regulators, governmental authorities, or law enforcement agencies.
• When necessary to protect the rights, safety, property, or security of Meen Msefer, its users, or the public.

How We Store and Protect Your Information

Your information is stored in secured systems protected by appropriate access controls and security measures designed to reduce the risk of unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction.

Access to personal information is restricted to authorized processes and personnel when required for the operation of the Platform.

While we implement reasonable security measures, no method of electronic storage or internet transmission is completely secure. Therefore, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

International Use of the Platform

Meen Msefer is designed to connect users who may be located in different countries. As a result, your information may be accessed, processed, or stored in countries other than your country of residence where permitted by applicable law. By using the Platform, you acknowledge and agree to such international processing and transfers.

Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Platform’s services, maintain your account, resolve disputes, enforce our agreements, and comply with legal obligations. When information is no longer required, it will be deleted, anonymized, or securely retained as required by applicable law.

Account deletion and anonymous record. When an account is deleted, we keep a minimal, anonymous record so that the invitation network stays trustworthy. It contains an internal account identifier, the identifier of the member who invited that person, the account’s trust level, whether the account had been suspended, the date of deletion, and a one-way cryptographic hash of the Google or Apple sign-in identity. It does not contain your name, email address, phone number, or any trip information. This record is deleted after 90 days. If an account was suspended for violating our Terms of Service before it was deleted, its record is kept for as long as needed to prevent that sign-in identity from rejoining Meen Msefer.

Invitations. When you invite someone, we store the phone number you entered together with the invitation (who sent it, when, and whether it was used) so that the invitation can be checked when the person joins. An invitation that is never used is deleted during our routine maintenance once it has been expired or cancelled for at least 30 days. If the invited person joins, their phone number is erased from the invitation when they delete their account; the invitation itself remains as an anonymous record, without a phone number, so that the invitation network can be audited.

Number changes. If you ask to change your WhatsApp number, our team reviews the request and keeps a record of it (the previous and the new number, and the date) for as long as your account exists. It is deleted with your account. Until the team approves it, your account keeps its current number.

Reports and moderation. Reports you make, and reports made about you, are deleted with the account concerned. A minimal internal record of moderation decisions (an internal identifier, the action and its date, without your name or phone number) may be kept.

Your Choices and Rights

You may:

• Update your name at any time, and ask to change your WhatsApp number (our team reviews the request).
• Switch your trip alerts on or off, or delete them, in “My flights”.
• Turn off notifications in your phone’s settings.
• Report a member, from the search results.
• Delete your account at any time: in the app (Profile → Delete account), or by following the steps on our account deletion page if you can no longer open the app.

When you request account deletion, your personal information and associated account data will be permanently deleted or anonymized within a reasonable period, unless retention is required by law. Account deletion is permanent and cannot be undone.

Children’s Privacy

Meen Msefer is not directed toward children and is not intended for users under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age. If we become aware that a minor has provided personal information in violation of this policy, we may remove the information and terminate the associated account.

Third-Party Services

The Platform relies on trusted third-party service providers: Google and Apple to sign you in, providers that securely store and host the data described in this policy and deliver notifications to your device, and WhatsApp when you choose to contact another member. Your use of those services is subject to the privacy policies and terms of the respective providers. Meen Msefer is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party services.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If material changes are made, the updated version will be published within the Platform together with a revised “Last Updated” date. Your continued use of the Platform after such changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
